Collection of Your Personal Information
When using our Platform, you may be asked to provide certain personal information to us in order to use certain products or services available on the Site. These may include: (a) signing up for our newsletter; (b) sending us an email message; and/or (c) submitting your credit card or other payment information when using the Site to make a donation to Humanity 2050. In connection with your use of these products and services on our Platform, we may ask you to provide personal information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address, or telephone number. If you choose to make a donation or sign up for a paid membership or newsletter, we may ask for additional information, such as your credit card number and billing address, which is used to create a billing account. The foregoing personally identifiable information is referred to herein as “Personal Information.”
We may also collect demographic information, such as your ZIP code, age, gender, telephone number, image, contact lists, social media information and profile, location (GPS) information, activity and performance information, preferences, interests and favorites. We also may gather personal or non-personal information in the future.
We may also gather certain information automatically that is stored in log files, which does not identify you. For example, we may use Web site analytics tools on our Site to retrieve information from your browser, including the Web site you came from, the search engine and the keywords you used to find our Site, the pages you view within our Site, your browser add-ons, and your browser’s width and height. We may also use technologies, such as cookies and web beacons (described below), to collect information about the pages you view, the links you click and other actions you take on our Site. Additionally, we collect certain standard information that your browser sends to every Web site you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and language, access times and referring Web site addresses.
We may combine information you give us with other information from our sources, transactions and communications. This may include, but is not limited to, information from direct mail, events, products and applications, or other interactions you have with Humanity 2050. We may also combine that information with data that is publicly available and data from third parties.
Use of Your Personal Information
Humanity 2050 collects and uses your Personal Information to operate and improve its Platform, its products and services. These uses may include providing you with more effective service; making the Platform or services easier to use; performing research and analysis aimed at improving our products, services, communications and technologies; and displaying content that is customized to your interests and preferences.
We also use your Personal Information to communicate with you. We may send certain service communications such as information on technical service issues, information on our products and services and its functionality and security announcements.
Humanity 2050 may also use your Personally Identifiable information to inform you of other activities of Humanity 2050 and its affiliates and partners.
Sharing Information with Third Parties
Humanity 2050 does not sell, rent, or lease its customer lists to third parties.
Humanity 2050 may share data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, host our Site, process transactions (including credit card processing), or provide customer support. All such third parties are prohibited from using your Personal Information except to provide these services to Humanity 2050, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your Personal Information. However, for credit card processing, our fraud detection vendors may use aggregate data to help improve their service. This helps them more accurately detect fraudulent uses of credit cards.
Humanity 2050 may disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Humanity 2050; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Humanity 2050; (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Site, or the public; and/or (d) assist in fraud protection or investigation.
We may also disclose Personal Information as part of a corporate transaction such as a merger or sale of assets.
Security of Your Personal Information
Humanity 2050 secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, like other companies, Humanity 2050 cannot guarantee the security or confidentiality of the Personal Information you provide to us. As a result, while we strive to protect your Personal Information, you acknowledge that: (a) there are security and privacy limitations inherent in the Internet which are beyond our control; and (b) security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and us through our Platform cannot be guaranteed.
How Long We Keep Your Personal Information
We retain your Personal Information in accordance with our business needs and for legal, regulatory, audit and tax requirements. After this period the Personal Information relating to your account and your use of our Platform will be deleted. Any Personal Information which you have provided to us for receiving information, newsletters and event invitations will be kept until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.
Our Site may use “cookies” to enable or help you to sign in to our services and to help personalize your online experience. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies contain information that can later be read by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.
You may have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. Use of Web Beacons
The Site may contain electronic images known as Web beacons – sometimes called single-pixel gifs – that may be used to assist in delivering cookies and allow us to count users who have visited pages on the Site. We may also include Web beacons in e-mail messages in order to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon.
We may also employ Web beacons from third parties in order to help us compile aggregated statistics regarding the effectiveness of our fundraising campaigns or other operation of our Site.
Finally, we may work with other companies that place links or other content on our Site that include Web beacons on their Web sites in order to allow us to develop statistics on how often clicking on a third-party’s content on our Site results in action on the third-party’s Web site.
Children Under Thirteen
Humanity 2050 does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of thirteen. If you are under the age of thirteen, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use this Site.
From time to time, Humanity 2050 may contact you via email for the purposes of providing announcements, updates, alerts, confirmations, surveys, and/or general communication, if you have given us your email address for this purpose.
If you would like to stop receiving email from Humanity 2050, you may opt out of such communications by clicking “Unsubscribe from this list” at the bottom of the email.
